Ticket to Malawi

Friends,

I wanted to let you know that I have purchased a ticket to Malawi. My hope is to be there at least through May, '09 to work with a Malawian ministry called Servants of the Nation (SON). SON works to encourage local leaders in Malawi who are willing to sacrifice personally for the benefit of their people -- a challenge in any place and time. In a very poor country, they build networks of people to study the Bible with each other, then look at the resources they have and use them to serve their neighbors.

Among other things, I will be helping manage SON's relations with Western individuals and organizations. To this end, please feel free to put me in touch with anyone you know who has a vision for this sort of work. Here are a few ideas:

1. Short-term mission trips to encourage one of SON's groups in studying the Bible and work on a service project.
2. Specialized support (i.e. someone with media savvy to interview SON's leaders, or water-purification/medical/
environmental/business skills)
3. Please let me know of any group who would like to hear from a SON leader who is visiting the U.S. (The founder, James Nyondo is considering a trip to the U.S. and I think you would find him to be a very compelling leader.)
4. There is a donation link on SON's website. Of course they always appreciate it when people contribute financially to the work.

Thanks as always for your friendship. I look forward to seeing many of you before I leave (Nov. 3), when I am back in DC (Dec. 17-20), or home for Christmas (Dec 22 - Jan.1).

Sincerely,

Micah Harris
